A MATLAB® Toolkit for Spatial and Temporal Analysis of Network Traffic Anomalies and a Simulator/Emulator for Network Traffic Anomalies
نویسندگان
چکیده
An easily customizable toolkit used to reveal spatial and temporal properties of network traffic traces and a simulator/emulator that regenerates anomalies having statistically similar anomalies to real networks is developed. The analyzer toolkit is fed with network traces as inputs, and anomalies are identified along with their properties. The toolkit uses Fourier analysis to suppress prominent trends in traffic that could mask anomalies, and use graph wavelets to reveal the spatial information on a node. It also traverses along the network to reveal the global spatial information. The toolkit also contains non-MATLAB scripts to convert certain network trace formats to a generic format. The simulator is parameterized with a few anomaly parameters at each node. By employing parameters for Internet2 network the simulator and the model it uses is validated. Further, an emulator for Internet2 traffic anomalies is also presented. KeywordsPerformance evaluation, MATLAB® Toolkit, Simulator/Emulator

Traffic Scene Analysis using Hierarchical Sparse Topical Coding
Analyzing motion patterns in traffic videos can be exploited directly to generate high-level descriptions of the video contents. Such descriptions may further be employed in different traffic applications such as traffic phase detection and abnormal event detection. One of the most recent and successful unsupervised methods for complex traffic scene analysis is based on topic models. In this pa...
متن کاملBehavioral Analysis of Traffic Flow for an Effective Network Traffic Identification
Fast and accurate network traffic identification is becoming essential for network management, high quality of service control and early detection of network traffic abnormalities. Techniques based on statistical features of packet flows have recently become popular for network classification due to the limitations of traditional port and payload based methods. In this paper, we propose a metho...
متن کاملAnomaly Detections in Internet traffic Using Empirical Measures
58 Abstract— Introducing Internet traffic anomaly detection mechanism based on large deviations results for empirical measures. Using past traffic traces we characterize network traffic during various time-of-day intervals, assuming that it is anomaly-free. Throughout, we compare the two approaches presenting their advantages and disadvantages to identify and classify temporal network anomalies...
متن کاملOptimal Signal Control in Urban Road Networks with High Priority Congested Centers
Keeping the density of traffic flow and air pollution in an acceptable level and developing a good capacity for transit in the high priority areas of the city, is really a big deal in large and crowded cities. To address this problem, a new method of intersection signal optimization is presented in this paper. Based on network fundamental diagrams, an Internal–External Traffic Metering Strategy...
